Dr Scott Dwyer is a Research Director at the Institute for Sustainable Futures (ISF) at the University of Technology Sydney.
He is an industry-focussed leader in sustainability research and engagement with 20 years of experience across multiple jurisdictions.
His research interests revolve around the opportunities and challenges posed by disruption in the energy and transport sectors, especially those linked to markets, customers, technologies, policy, and business models. He undertakes applied research with its primary aim being to inform policy and practice.
Dr Dwyer has a long track record of leading, managing, and contributing to transdisciplinary teams involved in complex, innovative research projects for the public and private sectors. During this time he has worked closely to collaborate with a diverse range of organisations, from energy utilities, manufacturers and start-ups to industry bodies, communities, businesses, and government.
He provides expert advice on a wide array of sustainable energy technologies and enablers, encompassing solar, batteries, VPPs, microgrids, embedded networks, UrbanREZ, water and space heating/cooling, demand flexibility, HEMS/BEMS, fuel cell, hydrogen, electric vehicles and its infrastructure.
Dr Dwyer is a regular contributor to media on these subjects, featuring on the ABC News, SBS World News, Nikkei-Asia, The Conversation, The Guardian, The Sydney Morning Herald, The Monthly, and a variety of other specialist media outlets. He is also frequently engaged by policymakers for commentary and expert advice.
As a senior member of the Energy Futures group at the Institute and leader of its work on customer energy innovation, he is a key part of a team that works to deliver outstanding, award-winning research in close collaboration with its partners.

Lynne Gallagher was appointed a Board Member of the Australian Energy Regulator in June 2023. Lynne is the Chair of the AER Board’s Network Committee, and a member of the Enforcement and Compliance Committee.
For over 15 years, Lynne has championed major reforms and systems design change in Australia’s energy sector, to achieve better outcomes for people and communities. Before working in the energy sector, Lynne held senior executive leadership roles in business, including in the finance, infrastructure and superannuation sectors, and in the public sector, including Prime Minister and Cabinet and the Treasury.
Prior to joining the AER, from March 2020 Lynne was the Chief Executive Officer of Energy Consumers Australia, the national voice for households and small business energy consumers. In her 8 years at Energy Consumers Australia, Lynne led the development of the most extensive set of ongoing energy consumer research in Australia, including $4 million used to investigate consumer attitudes, sentiment and behavioural insights. She was also a leading contributor to the internationally pathbreaking Digital Energy Futures research program.
Lynne is an advisory council member at the Monash Energy Institute and Western Sydney University’s Urban Transformations Research Centre; she is also a member of Energy Safe Victoria’s Future Trends Advisory Council and sits on the Advisory Board for the Pacific Energy Institute.

Associate Professor Tim Nelson was the Chair of the independent expert panel that conducted the review of Australia's National Electricity Market (NEM) wholesale market settings. He currently serves as the General Manager of Markets at Snowy Hydro.
Previously, Tim was the Executive General Manager, Energy Markets at Iberdrola Australia. In this role, Tim led the wholesale and retail energy markets functions. He also led business development for firming, hydrogen and smart solutions. Tim joined Iberdrola Australia in March 2020 from the Australian Energy Market Commission (AEMC). Up until November 2018, Tim was the Chief Economist of AGL Energy.
He has also been a Climate Councillor, a member of the Westpac Stakeholder Advisory Council, an advisory board member for My Net Zero.
Tim is an Associate Professor at Griffith University and is widely published in Australian and international peer-reviewed journals. He holds a PhD in economics for which he earned a Chancellors Doctoral Research Medal and a first-class honours degree in economics. Tim is also a fellow of the Governance Institute (FGIA FCG CS CGP) and a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD). He is also a Fellow of the Centre for Policy Development.

Tim is an Associate Professor at Griffith University and is widely published in Australian and international peer-reviewed journals.
